Bifold vs. sliding doors

A typical two-panel slider moves one panel behind the other, opening approximately half the doorway. With a conventional bottom-rolling slider, you push the entire moving door panel along the track, with its full weight supported by the bottom rollers. Lanai’s top-hung bifolds carry the moving panels from above, placing their load-bearing rollers in the header track. A slider saves swing space, but a panel remains across part of the opening. Bifolds fold to the side to open much more of the doorway. Multi-slide and pocketing systems can provide wider openings, depending on their configuration.

Bifold vs. lift-and-slide doors

Lift-and-slide doors use a handle-operated mechanism to raise a panel onto rollers before it slides along a bottom track. They can suit large glass panels and broad views.
