We installed four separate sets of bi-fold Lanai Doors for our kitchen and bedroom remodel project: 2 sets in the kitchen (each a twelve-foot span) and one nine-foot span set in each of two bedrooms.
All the doors are flush between the house and the back deck that overlooks the backyard and pool. We LOVE these doors!!
We have had them for a year-and-a-half, and they still look and operate like new. We occasionally need to have our contractor make minor adjustments on the doors because of the house settling and/or weather changes, but the company had told us to expect that. And it’s totally not a big deal at all.
I most appreciate how these doors look like traditional glass doors and do not scream out “modern wall-less doors” at all.
Visitors are always amazed when we unlatch the doors and open them all the way up. They never suspected they could do that! This more traditional door look matches the rest of our home’s decor.
We chose to also install the screen system that Lanai Doors partners with (the screen system is made by a different manufacturer but specifically designed for Lanai Doors). We use the screens a lot since we like to keep the doors wide open on nice days, but we don’t want a stray cat (or raccoon!) to sneak into the house.
Also, the screens are handy at night for keeping out bugs attracted to the interior lights.
For installation, we used our general contractor who was doing all the construction work on our remodel. He had never installed this type of door before, but Lanai was very helpful in answering any questions that came up. And he successfully installed them without a problem.
If we need to purchase another set of bi-fold doors, we would go with Lanai Doors in a heart beat, no question!
